yearly roundup 2025!
Dec. 31st, 2025 05:20 pm2025 year in review! it's been a doozy!
the good: best friend wedding, Maine/Acadia road trip, mental & physical health growth
the bad: familial death and corresponding tasks, advisor agonies grad school not even once
first, the data. I think I would like to try and make a python script to make some fun data vis plots instead of just using google sheets. because I am a nightmare. but for now here are the sheets plots.
of 52 Tuesdays I made 35 posts, so about 67%. a lot of music! a lot less podcast! lots of books, articles, and youtube!

reviewing last year's resolutions:
--> once again: workout routine! setting this at 1 day of cardio, 1 day of yoga/adjacent, and 1 day of weights per week. this feels sustainable. would like to make it through the yoga every day down dog challenge for January.
did an OK job with keeping in shape...started fencing again, I have 31 entries in my phone note that keeps track of when I worked out, so not. great. I didn't put yoga and some misc cardio in there to be fair though.
--> reintegrate journaling into my day-to-day.
basically did not journal
--> clean up some digital clutter; organize photos and files, empty..my tumblr likes ...... [80k posts]
did organize some digital stuff, decided I don't give a fuck about clearing out my tumblr likes. up to 85k. love and light
--> generally move away from perfectionist tendencies (in writing/journaling (feeling compelled to record Everything), painting, etc)
did Okay in moving away from excessive record keeping
--> submit to the gallery on main street for real this time
submitted to the gallery, AND it got accepted! it is hanging there til mid Jan :]
--> finish the travel journals
did not finish the travel journals lol
--> learn some quilting
did learn some quilting!
--> get back into neocities! maybe start crossposting these on there?
I DID get into neocities! yippee! wahoo!
--> read like...10 books this year
actually, yes! even if we don't count the beefleaf zine or the OTGW art book, I did read multiple volumes of Remnants of Filth which is technically multiple books!
--> pass my prelim exams ;_;
LOL. did NOT pass my prelims. have not done them yet. there is Problems with my advisor but we're getting there. I DID, however, give a successful conference talk on my work, so there's that at least.
that's a 7/10 success rate, if we include the Kind Ofs. sure!
some of the highlight from my doings:
and the 2026 resolutions:
happy new year everyone! here's to holding on to hope for 2026!

and the 2026 resolutions:
- really lock in on working out. this is the year of the pullup. I can feel it.
- restart journaling, at least 2x a week-ish, but not in an obsessive record keeping way
- start doing 1x/month photo organization from phone, deleting screenshots, etc
- finish travel journals/scrapbooking organization, a little bookbinding :-)
- do my prelims but for real
- de-bald my cat :-( if I can. if it's possible.
- go to Seattle to visit my friends while they're still out there
- buy more music from bandcamp! I did bandcamp Friday twice last year and I want to do it again for more stuff. and pirate the rest as needed but try to support some smaller artists with the money I'm not giving spotify right now
- keep tweaking neocities website; make sure that I have a non-online backup saved of all the images etc on my hard drive, and finish archiving all the old entries onto here
- take intro korean!
happy new year everyone! here's to holding on to hope for 2026!
