posting this on dreamwidth/tumblr as technically a combo week because I did a really short tuesdaypost on my neocities on December 2; past few weeks have been insane (neutral), was cramming conference talk prep and then was at a conference for a week. my talk went well! good questions after, good conversations. that conference is so big that it's basically impossible to network effectively though.
next tuesday will be one last roundup post for the year and then a yearly roundup on new year's eve probably!
Big Talk (Couch): favorite tracks 'What Were You Thinking', 'Little Less Over You', 'Static and Noise' Tears for Fears 'Songs From The Big Chair' trueanon episodes Rebecca Black cover of 'Fame is a Gun'
powering through Remnants of Filth still. it's not in the top tier of my cnovel reading but I'm enjoying it enough to keep it up. according to my epub I'm ~70% through the whole series. on thanksgiving with two of my friends we watched 'Last Holiday' starring Queen Latifah. Timothy Hutton was the antagonist and when he showed up on screen I was like NATE?? OF LEVERAGE FAME??? goofy ass hallmark level movie. was charmed by it. same event we watched Oceans 11. I had never seen it somehow! I liked it a lot. I think the best way I can describe it is "snappy", or maybe "fun romp". didn't really understand why his ex wife went back to him at the end but whatever. football!!! I understand football now!!!!! got to New Orleans a few days early for conference last week because my friend is a Saints fan and wanted to see the game and she did such a good job explaining it to me that I actually understand the basic rules now. crazy. the game was also a banger, so all of that coupled with 'I cannot be accused of being a bandwagoner' and now having a bit of emotional attachment to the whole thing means that I think I am a Saints fan now. who dat :] finished IWTV re-watch with my friend. very excited for s3. while in New Orleans I took a tour of the Gallier house where they filmed, it ended up being a private tour with me and my friends because no one else had registered for it! I was immediately read for filth though, he took one look at me and was like "so are you an american horror story or IWTV fan" and I was like "....IWTV........" he was a good sport, he was asking mostly in the capacity of being able to give fun facts about that media wrt the house haha. for example, apparently during breaks in filming, they would just leave the incinerator in the courtyard there. that part of the tour shpiel was like "that tin roof there is the coal shed, next to it is the outhouse". when they asked the production manager what they were supposed to tell people if they asked about the incinerator (they had all signed NDAs) and were told "you're smart people, figure it out". okay. so someone asked what the incinerator was on a tour, the guide just kind of. paused. repeated "that tin roof there is the coal shed, next to it is the outhouse". the person asked again "but what is that" and the tour guide went "coal shed! outhouse! don't know what else to say here! move along, people!" incredible. misc youtube (tiffanyferg, etc); toddintheshadows pop year review
bitch we are BACK in hades mode!!! let's go!!! I'm almost done with the first ending I think, I have beat Cronos the 7th time and am now going back up the peak with Gigaros to fuck up Typhon one last time, I'm intrigued where the plot might be going ... Hermes is one of the few gods from the first game whose art I really like in this one. thinking fondly on the Hermes/Charon yaois from game 1 that were floating around.
holiday card block print! they will not get in the mail til after christmas, oh well. will post an image at the bottom of this post so if you want it to remain a surprise, don't scroll all the way down hahaha pottery (boyfriend, if you are reading, this is the one to scroll real fast past): sake container for mom, One Real Mug (I think this the first not-teacup I've made, lol), two spoonrests (Bowie one for brother, other for boyfriend), matcha bowl (can you tell I'm really into the pool bottom design lol), started a new cave painting mug, 'stack' of mugs (there's a chipped teal one too that I'll add a picture of later), a few unremarkable bowls (I do really like the matte blue though)
I have a piece in a local gallery!! >:o I shant say how much the custom frame + mat cost. too much. never again. will DIY going forward. but it DOES look nice.
smitten kitchen lemon chicken with chickpeas and potatoes so much insane good food in New Orleans, unfortunately none of it very photograph-able due to being varying wet bowls of things (jambalaya, etc). short list: fried oyster salad, rice and beans, fun fusion sushi (fried alligator!), liver platter at a funny little greek cafe, shrimp and grits, Twelve Raw Oysters, CAFE DU MONDE ! beignets and the coffee was phenomenal, gumbo and aforementioned jumbalaya. banger after banger after banger. first time for this conference that I have ever used my entire food per diem every day. was a bit of an IBS warrior due to the butter and fat but it was absolutely worth it.
LAST WARNING TO CLICK OFF FOR HOLIDAY PRINT SPOILERS. I printed a bunch of these directly on my blank postcards but that may be a mistake. not because of the texture - I think that's kinda nice actually - but because holy cow the dry time is Long. so I think I am printing more on thinner paper, because those are drying way faster, and then pasting them onto the postcards instead? lol. or just mailing some of them via envelope again.

Date: 2025-12-24 04:01 pm (UTC)i really, really do rec their previous game befores hades, 'pyre' which is totally underrated to the point when og hades was announced the trailer had 'from the makers of 'bastion' and 'transistor' and not their actual latest released game 'pyre' ....listen. bitterness is a hell of a motivation.
'pyre' RIGHT NOW is less than a dollar in the steam game store!!!
